A PRELIMINARY STUDY OF THE REGIONALIZATION OF TOURISM RESOURSES IN CHINA
中国旅游资源分区的初步研究

Based on the tourism resourses data of 8000 entities in China, the regional features of the resourses and their regional difference were analysed qualitatively and quantitatively in this paper. Then a three-level regionalization system and a regionalization map of the resour.se were made. There are eight regions at the first level and forty-one regions at the second level in the whole country. There are more or less third-level regions in each of the second-level regions. However, a third-level region must be one of the five types classified according to the quality and quantity of tourism resourses and the situation of traffic. The procedure of the regionalization is in a bottow-up way. The results gained in this study are very helpful to the management of the tourism resourses and the development of Chinese tourism.
