A STUDY ON FOREST FLORA OF TAOYUANDONG NATURE CONSERVATION, HUNANA STUDY ON FOREST FLORA OF TAOYUANDONG NATURE CONSERVATION, HUNAN
湖南桃源洞自然保护区植物区系初步研究

Taoyuandong Nature Conservation is situated at the eastern border of Hunan and the Luoxiao mountainous range, which is remote mountainous area in Hunan and adjacent to Jingang mount of Jiangxi Province. According to our investigation, there are 1270 seed plant spacies(including subspecies and varieties), 620 genera and 158 families, accounting for 31.9% of species in Hunan, in which there are 748 woody plant species, 285 genera and families, making up 33.9% of total number of species in Hunan. In geographical element, there are 306 genera belongs to tropical element and 269 genera belongs to temperate element, comprising 53.2% and 46.8% of total genera in this area, respectively, which shares this area (including the southern portion of Hunan)is located the transitional zone from the northern edge of south ancient land to the southern edge of north anoient land. Because of the special natural conditions, this area is characterised by the East China Floristic Region and somewhat affected by the Central China Floristic Region and South China Floristic Region.
