Moisture Content of Loess Profile in Shaolingyuan in Chang''''an of Shaanxi Province
|
Abstract:
On the basis of the investigation of the water bearing layers, moisture content, grain size, porosity and microstructure determination in loess profile at Yangwan village of Chang'an county, the change of moisture and the distribution of the water bearing layers and water resisting layers, bearing water condition and correlation between them and Quaternary climate change are studied. The results show that the change of moisture content of the loess stratum represents a change type different from that reached before. The higher water content occurs in the loess layers and the lower water content occurs in the red paleosol layers. From the upper to the lower, the moisture content and the porosity have the fluctuation change law;and the five water bearing layers are all consist of loess layers and the water resisting layers are consist of red paleosols.Property of the water bearing layers and the water resisting layers was determined by the climate when they formed.Water bearing space of loess layers developed well was determined by weak soil formation action in the cold-arid climate at that time. The property of water resisting of red paleosols was determined by intense clay grouting and clay mineral formation action in the warm-moist climate at that time. Two basic conditions of ground water enrichment are loess layer with developed well water bearing space and red paleosol layer as water resisting layer with intense clay grouting characteristics.
