An Effective Method for Extracting Total RNA from Young Ears of Maize

Here we report a modified hot phenol method for extracting the total RNA from young ears of maize. This method involves wiping off polysaccharides by adding KAC in the extraction buffer. RNA isolated by this method is of high quality and can be used for the later molecular manipulations.
