Studies on the Effects of Heavy Metal on Growth of Cucumis sativus Seedlings
重金属对黄瓜籽苗发育影响的研究

The effects of copper sulphate, lead acetate, zinc sulphate, cadmium chloride and neckel chloride on growth and root tip cell divition of Cucumis sativus seedlings were studied respectively. The results show that the root length, shoot length, later root number, and the longest later root length were decreased with the increasing of the concentration of the chemical solution treated on seedlings, The decreasing of root length was significant, The number of root tip cell division, were also decreased significantly. Among the five chemicals used, copper sulphate was the most toxic. And the next was cadmium chloride.
