Dynamics and Regulation of Microtubule System
|
Abstract:
Microtubules (MTs), one of the primary components in cytoskeleton system, are present in virtually all eukaryotic cells. It is well known that they play the key role in many important cellular actions such as mitosis, intracellular vesicle transport, organization and positioning of membranous organelles, and determination of cell shape and motility. One of the most prominent features of MTs is their dynamics. This review mainly focuses on some aspects of MT dynamic models and its distinct organizing behaviors in vivo/vitro. Furthermore, in living cells the regulation from several different levels is discussed.
