Some major characteristics of the carbon cycle in grassland ecosystems were summarized, and a carbon cycle compartment model was introduced as well; Based on published data, the carbon storage and inputs in major grassland ecosystems of the world were estimated; Finally, the role of grassland ecosystems in the global carbon cycle was tentatively discussed.
