According to the deformation and failure process of layered rock masses supportedwith bolts,the reinforcement mechanism and efficiency of rock bolts are studied in this papet An evolution equation for evaluating the reinforcement efficiency of rock bolts is de-veloped. Finally, a constitutive relation for the layered rock masses supported with boltsis proposed.
