In this paper,the finite element method for U shape yieldable steel ribs is presented. It describles how to deal with the overlap sections of yieldable steel ribs in the calculation of internal forces in the support,using the finite element method.It analyses the variation of the shape of steel ribs and calculation of internal residual forces resulted from yielding of steel ribs.
