Abstract:

The new concept of driving the gate road on "original site" in fully mechanized top coal caving mining is first put forward on the basis of the analysis about the technical features of this mining method. That is, the gate road for the face in next district is on the site where the original roadway was excavated and abandoned for the last district. Meanwhile, the feasibility of this method is preliminarily analyzed from theoretical and technical aspects. It is considered that the gate roads driven on the "original site" can extremely reduce the coal loss along the maingate and tailgate in the fully mechanized top coal caving face. The gate road is situated in the stress relief zone under the protection of the equilibrium cantilever rock beam, so the roadway is almost not influenced by driving and mining activities with small deformation and stresses around it. The key technical problems are the roadway support in driving state and air leakage protection. Driving the gate road on the "original site" is a new promising roadway layout method. It deserves to be studied theoretically and tested in fields.
