TESTING STUDY ON THE DYNAMIC CHARACTERISTICS OF ORGANIC GLASS MODEL OF AN EARTHQUAKE ISOLATION FRAME
|
Abstract:
The isolation of earthquake will eventually replace the resistance to earthquake. This seems to be an irreversible trend. However, almost all earthquake isolation devices share the same defects and disad vantages: inefficiency, high cost and difficulty in construction. To solve the problems, a new type of earthquake isolation(E I) device is developed, which has gained the patent right in China. The new E I device is entirely different from the conventional ones in terms of its manufacture, installation and service. The dynamic test of its organic glass model shows that 90 percent of seismic force can be isolated. In addition, its convenience in construction, low cost and no need of maintenance in service make it most suitable for the rigit frame structures in seismic regions.
