ENERGY DISSIPATION AND DAMAGE CHARACTERS IN ROCK DIRECT TENSILE DESTRUCTION
|
Abstract:
With newly developed tensile split Hopkinson bar(SHTB), the dynamic tensile loading is set up to rock specimen successfully. Using the round tension strength specimen and the notched round tension fracture specimen, with SHTB and MTS for dynamic and static tension loading, the following four types of experiments are carried out for rock: dynamic tension strength, dynamic tensile fracture, static tension strength and static tensile fracture. The destroyed specimens of these conditions are cut along their longitudinal sections, and the destruction characters of these specimens are observed with an optical microscope. It was found that there is a close relationship between the internal damage of rock specimens and their energy dissipation during failure.
