Analysis on Abutment Aseismatic Stability by Using Finite Element and Rigid Body Limit Equilibrium Method

Abstract:
The importance and complexity of aseismatic stability of arch darn abutment are recited. The distinct element method(DEM), discontinuous deformation analysis(DDA), numerical manifold method(NMM), interface stress element method, nonlinear finite element method and rigid body limit equilibrium method are presented, which are used in the analysis on abutment aseismatic stability. It is indicated that the dynamic amplification of abutment rock body and dam-water-foundation interaction should be considered in the aseismatic stability analysis for high arch dam abutment.
