DETERMINATION OF SUBSOIL BEARING CAPACITY USING GENETIC ALGORITHM

Abstract:
Determination of subsoil bearing capacity is very important step in foundation engineering design. According to the basic idea of calculating bearing capacity with kinematics element method, a new restrictive condition of optimizing analysis suitable for general shear failure is proposed, and the most dangerous slip surface and ultimate bearing capacity are determined using genetic algorithm. Because of the global optimal algorithm, the proposed method overcomes the shortcoming of local minimim value by normal methods.
