Polyketides are an important class of bioactive secondary metabolites. Since the recurrence of the known polyketides is very high during the discovery of novel natural polyketide compounds using traditional methods, new approaches are developed for the biosynthesis of these compounds,. This review discusses discovery of new polyketides via metagenome library technique.
