Apatite Fisson track Analysis in the West Region of North Shelf in South China Sea
|
Abstract:
It is tried to apply apatite fission track analysis (AFTA) to thermal evolution history research for the sedimentary basins in the west region of north shelf in South China Sea. AFT measurements of 13 samples from boreholes have been reported. Based on the measurements several pieces of thermal evolution history on Wu 16 1 2 and Yeng 1 boreholes are studied leading to the judgements that Wu 16 1 2 borehole location had not been disturbed by major thermal event and thermal evolution was rather steady since 30 Ma,while Yeng 1 borehole location had been raised in era between Late Pliocene and Quaternary. The gained conclusions have been checked by means of a theory model calculating fission track using computer. At last of the paper, it is confirmed that the application of AFTA method for study of thermal evolution in the west region of north shelf in South China Sea is successful and it is also pointed out that the problems about selecting rock samples need to be further improved.
