Lithology identification of the Weiya complex by means of ETM remote sensing
|
Abstract:
Located in a gobi zone of the East Tianshan,Xinjiang, the Weiya elliptic complex is tectonically situated in a zone of tectonic weakness at the intersection site of several large lineaments in the central part of the Kawabulak microblock. The area of the Weiya complex is 167.40 km~2,of which the area of the outer ring is 77.28 km~2 and the area of the inner ring is 90.12 km~2.It is important for studying the tectonomagmatic activities in the area because of its nearly equiaxial shape and multiple intrusion;so it has caused close attention of numerous researchers. For a long time, the extraction of lithology information using remote sensing has been one of the technological problems for remote sensing geologists.Lithology identification using multispectral remote sensing in such a large complex where rocks are exposed and lithofacies is complicated can not only supplement and improve the work of previous researchers, but also provide new evidence for the study of magmatie activities, petrology and regional tectonics. The use of this technique for the study of the formation and evolution mechanism of the Weiya complex enlarges the application of the muhispectral remote sensing technique in geology.
