Comparison between REE granite and W-Sn granite in the Nanling region, South China, and their mineralizations
|
Abstract:
W-Sn deposits and REE deposits are extensively distributed in the Nanling region,South China. They are both genetically closely related to granitoids but have many differences in mineralization.W-Sn deposits are typical hydrothermal ones, whereas REE deposits in the region mainly formed by surface weathering. With differentiation and evolution of granitoids, the contents of W and Sn increased gradually;so W-Sn deposits are mainly associated with highly differentiated and evolved,late-stage small granite intrusions. However,REE have different behaviors from W and Sn.Because the differentiation and evolution of granitoids resulted in the decrease of REE carrier minerals such as biotite and many accessory minerals, the REE content in the granite intrusions decreased in the late stage instead.Good examples are given by the Wuliting-Dajishan granite in southern Jiangxi and Huashan-Guposhan granite in northeastern Guangxi. The major granitoids related to weathered-crust type REE deposits include Indosinian metaluminous granites, Yanshanian A-type granite and mid-late Yanshanian biotite monzogranite.
