Geochemical records of subsequent effects of continental deep subduction: discussion of mantle source variations of the Mesozoic lithospheric mantle of the North China Craton
|
Abstract:
The subduction and subsequent collision between the North China Craton (NCC) and Yangtze Craton (YC) provide a precious opportunity to study the affect of the deep continental subduction.Based on the studies of geochronology, geochemistry, spatial features of Sr isotope and fractionation of high field strength elements of the deep originated rocks, the authors propose that the most possible mechanism which caused the observed characteristics of these rocks is the interaction of the lithospheric mantle of NCC with melt (fluid) released from YC,the Mesozoic global affair induced the widely Cretaceous tectono -magmatism in eastern China. It was suggested that the large scale transformation of the lithospheric mantle of NCC was the most important expression of the effect of the continental subduction and this subduction and collision exert a profound influence on the evolution of NCC.
