ECLOGITES IN EASTERN SHANDONG-NORTHERN JIANGSU REGION: THEIR STRUCTURE AND EXHUMATION MECHANISM
|
Abstract:
Eclogites occurring in the eastern Shandong-northern Jiangsu region (SULU Eclogites) can be divided into two types based on their protoliths. One is called M-type, metamorphosed from mantle rock, and the other is called Q-type, from crustal rocks. Both types are of foreign blocks enclosed in surrounding gneiss. The evolution of the eclogites in the studied area took place in four stages, namely, stage of pre-eclogite, and stage I, A and S as shown in D. C. Smith's schedule. The deformation of the eclogites studied exhibits ductile feature in the stages I and A, but cataclastic feature in the stage S. The exhumation of the SULU Eclogites might proceed in two stages. The reverse shearing flow could preceed in the first stage, and the regional uplift and erosion in the second stage.
