PETROGENESIS OF THE CENOZOIC VOLCANIC ROCKS IN THE CHANGBAISHAN REGION
|
Abstract:
The Cenozoic volcanic rocks in the Changbaishan region, an bimodal assemblage of basalt-trachyte-comendite,have the major and trace element geochemical characteristics similar to those of the volcanic rccks in the continental rift. The basalts in this region belong to alkali basaltic and tholeiitic series. Naitoushan basalt represents primary magma and the others evolved magmas with different degrees. Baitoushan volcanic rocks(trachyte and comendite) may have a crystallization relationship with the basalts. The Cenozoic volcanic rocks, bound up with the uplift and heat-increase of the upper mantle, were formed under the continental rift.
