This article evaluates six popular Web Searching Engines: Altavista, Excite, Go, Hotbot, Lycos, and Yahoo. These databases are compared and analysed in seven aspects: scope and size,collecting methods,indexing and abstracting,search features,displaying,sorting,and updating frequency.
