Information Retrieval Protocol for Heterogeneous Digital Resources

Information retrieval in distributed and heterogeneous databases is an urgent problem nowadays. In this paper, a standard protocol is proposed to give an efficient method to solve this problem. This protocol has two main parts. First, a standard search Webservice is given by analyzing many metadata standards and databases. By using this standard Webservice, all databases can distribute uniform search webservice. Then an effective method to select and find the search Webservice is introduced, which is an extension of UDDI.
