Statistical Analysis in the Evaluation of Students'''' Performance

Abstract:
Statistical analysis is a tool,while how to use the statistical methods to conquer the practical problems is the root of the development of the statistics.The main objective of this paper is to act a new statistical approach,which can improve the disadvantages in the evaluation of students' performance.The numerical example is based on the performance of several students who come from Longyan No.1 Senior high school.Useful information can be obtained through statistical analysis so as to help improve the performance of students in the future.The analysis results can also be of great help to teachers in their future teaching career.Finally,suggestions are given to revise the format of score-sheet recording table so as to include more useful information.Specifically,two new statistical metrics,named "the exceed probability" and "the upper and lower bounds of the objective value",are proposed in this paper.Those two concepts help to provide a more systematic approach to elicit enough information from the students so as to help to quantify the estimate of those students' final objective in a much easier way.
