Simulation of a Blood Inventory System with Time Varying Demand

Abstract:
Blood is a special type of deteriorating items.This paper has built a discrete event simulation model for the blood inventory system of a big hospital in china.Using the parameters estimated by empirical data,the optimal order point is determined by repetitious runs.As the demand to blood varies with time greatly,based on the model previous,we introduce a flexible order point model which can reduce the cost effectively.The paper will be helpful to the determination and modification of blood inventory systems' order point,and is effective for the management of other inventory systems with deteriorating items.
