The Robustness of Attacks on Vertices and Edges of Food Webs
|
Abstract:
The response of 14 food webs to attacks on vertices and edges isstudied in this article. Taking account of the energytransportation character of food webs, attacks on vertices and edges based on "betweenness" are introduced into the experiment.Food web robustness, the fraction of species that had to be removed in order to result in a total loss of 50% of the species,is selected to measure the effect of attacks on vertices, and it is found that attacks based on betweenness is more effective than degree-based attacking on most food webs. For the same removal rate of edges,it is found that attack on edges is better than on vertices.
