Research of Facility Layout Optimization Considered the Exit and Entrance

Abstract:
We study the facilities layout optimization in case of considering the distances of exit and entrance. In condition of input and output places are fixation, we prove that the conveyance workload lie mainly on backward and transverse material flow and the total conveyance workload can be decomposed to three parts, the basic positive direction conveyance, backward conveyance and transverse conveyance. As the layout change, only the backward and transverse conveyances are changed and the basic positive direction conveyance keeping unchanged. The backward conveyance arose a twice increment of conveyance as itself. So we have developed a new model of objective-function. For computer systems easy to deal with, we have constructed a backward distances matrix, a transverse distances matrix and a conveyance workload matrix. Combined with the simulated annealing algorithms, the new model can improve effectively the optimized process and optimization layout solution. By an example, we finally validate the validity of the new objective-function and the algorithms.
