A Brief Introduction to the Interval Methods

In recent years, interval methods are successfully applied to engineering and finance, and have obtained many significant results in computational science and engineering. Some domestic researchers are also working on this field at home. In order to let more persons to understand interval methods, we will briefly review what is and why interval computation, and introduce some interval computing software tools that are freely available through internet in this paper. More application of interval methods in many aspects, such as engineering and finance, etc. will give in other articles.
