Distance Based Cellular Automata Simulation for Employee Behaviors
|
Abstract:
To achieve simulation of complex management systems, qualitative simulation for group behaviors should be studied firstly. Therefore, according to the properties of organization and employees, traditional Cellular Automata modeling is developed to simulate evolution of employee behaviors. The enterprise with a group of employees is viewed as a social field. The distances between cells are used to describe various gravitations in the social field. The distances are also used to describe the management policy and evaluate the performances of employee behaviors.Based on the distance approach, the rule of cell movement and the simulation engine are designed.Through an example of a workshop in an enterprise, validation of the proposed simulation method is tested, and application to evaluating alternative strategies of management policy is illustrated. The simulation results of validation and application show that the proposed simulation method is valid, and can be used to predict evolution of two types of employee behaviors: employee fidelity to organization and employee cohesion.
