Analysis of Media Synchronization in Distributed Multimedia System Based on Queueing Model

Abstract:
A discrete time matched queue model with a double input and multiple vocation Geom$_{1}$+Geom$_{2}$/Geom/1 was proposed to investigate the performance of the synchronization of media in distributed multimedia system. The queue model was analyzed by using method of matrix-geometric solution, and the main performance measures were obtained such as the state probability of a server in busy, average queue length of the two media streams and the unmatched state probability. Finally, the effects of various vacation parameters and match mode on the performance measures were obtained by numerical investigation.
