A Group Argumentation Information-Structuring Model in Hall for Workshop of Metasynthetic Engineering

An information-structuring model to support group argumentation is presented in this paper. The purpose is to improve efficiency and effectiveness of group argumentation using structured comments to propose and debate on alternatives, and to provide group memory in the computer-mediated group argumentation. We believe that in the task-oriented group argumentation, the comment has the specific purpose and orientation, and different relationships exist among the comments. Based on above concept, in this group argumentation information-structuring model, the comments are classified into 4 categories, including Idea, Argument, Question, Message, according to its purpose, and the semantic relationships among them are classified into 5 types, which are Related, Argues for, Argues Against, Queries, Informs. The comments are connected according to their orientation through one type of semantic relationships. A dynamic tree structure which including all comments is constructed by this way. This model is applied in a prototype of Hall for Workshop of Metasynthetic Engineering developed by the authors and is approved to be feasible in practice.
