Shortcomings of AHP and the Path to Improve the Method-An Example Given by the Achievement''''s Assessment of Beijing Normal University

To solve the problems of AHP((Analytical Hierarchy Process), some concrete advices were put forward according to the practice of the achievement's assessment of Beijing Normal University. The major advice is to enhance the combination between AHP and FCA (Fuzzy Comprehensive Assessment).At first ,as many experts as possible should be invited to improve the quality of judgement matrix. At the same time, the value of quantitative information should be developed efficiently and the quantitative and qualitative information should be synthesized to make the assessment comprehensive. All the methods including AHP and FCA have strong points and shortcomings. If there many objects to assess and a not so exact result is expected, we should use FCA, but AHP has better be thought about to determine the power of the factors. If there are not so many objects to assess and a very exact result is expected, AHP may be the best method.
