Abstract:

The density, velocity and temperature distribution of the atomic flow are very important parameters in atomic vapor laser isotope separation (AVLIS). In order to analyse the influence of electron gun's power and electron beam's width on vapor physical parameters, such as density, velocity, temperature, mass flux, velocity distribution function, direct-simulation Monte Carlo method (DSMC) is used to simulate the two-dimensional metal evaporation from long and narrow crucible. By the electron-gun heating method, the temperature of evaporation source is not uniform. It is changed by the electron gun's power and electron beam width. Our research focuses on the changes of the physical parameters of atomic flow during the changes of the electron gun's power and the electron beam's width. The simulation results show that the larger the power of electron gun, the higher the radial velocity and the mass flux of vapor. The narrower the width of the electron beam, the higher the mass flux of vapor.
