Formation and transportation of monopole and dipole domains in superlattices

Abstract:
Making use of the modified discrete drift model, the formation and transportation of monopole and dipole electric field domains in superlattices have been investigated under dc voltage bias. Depending on the density of contact doping and well doping, the current oscillations may be due to the monopole recycling, the dipole propagating, or the coexistence of both the oscillation modes.
