Polaron effects on linear and nonlinear optical absorption coefficients in a quantum disk

Abstract:
The linear and nonlinear optical absorption coefficients due to intersubband transition in a quantum disk are studied theoretically using the density matrix method.Emphasis is given to the electron\|phonon interaction.Contributions from the bulk longitudinal\|optical and the surface optical phonon modes are considered separately.The numerical results are presented with different incident photon energy and various thickness in a typical GaAs quantum disk.The results demonstrate that the polaron effects are quite important especially around the peak value of absorption coefficient.
