Controlling chaos based on the multiple notch filter

Abstract:
A method of controlling chaos based on the multiple notch filter was developed to direct chaotic motion towards regular motion .The multiple notch filter controller used an active negative feed back with fixed controller parameters without affecting the original system parameters. The use of a notch filter in the feedback is to disturb the balance of power at the lower end of the participating frequencies in the power spectrum.This results in a truncation of the period doubling route to chaos. Moreover, Melnikov's method is used to explain the control mechanism. The procedures are tested on a typical chaotic system with the multiple notch filter negative feedback to achieve the desired motion.
