Bacterial Diversity of Two Salt Lakes in Qinghai
|
Abstract:
Bacterial diversities of salt lakes Chaka and Keke in Qinghai have been analyzed by using conventional cultivation methods and one culture independent method (DGGE). Results showed that large amount of unknown microorganisms exist in these two lakes, isolated strains account for only a small portion of species diversity. Twelve isolates were identified with polyphasic taxonomic methods, and classified into five potential novel species and one new genus. Designing new strategies for isolation of as yet uncultured microorganisms from natural extreme environments is the key step to exploit microbial resources.
