Cellulose-Congo red agar is a rew differenhal medium contalning cellulose which is to be the only carbon source and dye congo red. The colonies of cellulose decomposing ndcrroorganisms, having secreted cellulase, are surronnded by some dishnct red zones in the medium and can be easily distinguished from colonies of other types of ndcroroorgarusms. We can convenientiy use this medium to sieve and dentnneat callulose decomposing nucroorgamsms.
