Formation of the System of the Properties of the Five Organs
|
Abstract:
This paper approaches and explores the question of the formation of the System of the Properties of the Five Organs from a causative point of view, combining the principles in the Inner Canon and the teachings of the Taoist School. The Properties of the Five Organs originate from the Brain Marrow at the Embryonic stage as a result of combined transformatory processes of the Spirit and the Brain Marrow. The Spirit is transformed to become the Heart-Spirit which in turn is transformed to become the Five Senses and their related elements. The Brain Marrow is transformed to become the Five Organs such as the Heart and the Kidneys. At the completion of the above transformatory processes, the Five Senses become housed in the Five Organs. The System of the Properties of the Five Organs is thus formed. The Brain is the element of transformation of the Spirit, providing a functional base for the Five Organs. The Heart-Spirit is the supreme commander of the System of the Properties of the Five Organs.
