Effect of fertilization on the yield and quality of Codonopsis Tangshen Oliv.

Abstract:
This work aimed to study the effect of fertilizer types and application quantities on the yield and quality of Codonopsis tangshen Oliv. The yield data was collected through field trials via single-factor experiments and orthogonal tests in C. tangshen. The lobetyolin and polysaccharide contents of the samples were measured by HPLC and UV. In single-factor experiments, both the fertilizer type and application quantity had a noticeable effect on the yield, but had unnoticeable effect on the lobetyolin and polysaccharide content. The combination to get the highest yield was the nitrogenous fertilizer (24 kg/667 m2), the phosphate fertilizer (40 kg/667 m2), the potash fertilizer (16 kg/667 m2) and the planting density of 55560 seedlings/667 m2 in the orthogonal test. Interactions were observed in different fertilizer types. A reasonable usage of fertilizers may increase both the yield and quality of C. tangshen.
