TCM injection is an innovative and quick-acting dosage form, and plays a significant role in clinical treatment of acute, severe syndromes. Some TCM injections have become the drug of first choice for the treatment of such diseases as virus infection, cardiovascular diseases and tumors. With the rapid development and wide application of TCM injections in combination with western drugs, a number of adverse events about TCM infections have been reported and aroused broad attention. This paper clarifies the quick-acting and broad-spectrum advantages of TCM injections by comparing the difference of TCM injections with the oral TCM preparations and western medicine injections. It also introduces the indispensable status and great values of TCM injections in terms of species diversity, clinical penetration rate and high-level participation in the modern health. In conclusion, the adverse events of TCM injections need objective analyses. The re-evaluation of TCM injections, the exclusive production of some varieties, the secondary development of advantageous varieties, and effective monitoring systems are suggested to be established among enterprises, hospitals and drug-control institutes, which would pave a sound developmental road for TCM injections.
