Functional dyspepsia is a frequently-occurring disease in clinics. Its pathogenesis is still unknown and it is difficult to cure it, thus gravely reducing the quality of patients' life. This article generally describes the standards of the diagnosis of functional dyspepsia, the study of its treatment, its pathogenesis and the method for its clinical study in the world and suggests ideas guiding its study in traditional Chinese medicine.
