Preliminary Study on Development Constraints by Characteristics of Pharmacological Effects Analysis in Traditional Chinese Medicine

Modernization of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is the only way to develop Chinese medicine. It is also the necessary way towards the international market. At present, the research for TCM modernization has made a certain success. But some problems and shortcomings still must be resolved. This paper was mainly aimed on five aspects as follows. The first is the development status of TCM. The second is the pharmacological characteristics of TCM. The third is factors which restricts TCM development. And the fourth is to maintain the vitality of TCM. The fifth is strategies and suggestions given to TCM modernization.
