Experimental Studies for the Particle Size Distribution of Mine Spoil Pile Cross Section
|
Abstract:
For analyzing the different particle size distribution of mine spoil pile cross section. Dimensional method is employed firstly to abbreviate ten physical and mechanical parameters, which could describe the whole packing procedure of mine spoil pile, to three non-dimensional numbers, and then the similarity criterion and coefficient are determined and calculated. The similarity model is constructed to representation the packing process of the mine spoil pile. The cross section of the final model shows that the small size particles are mainly composed in the upper zone of the mine spoil pile, and the bottom of the pile is mainly dominated by larger size particles, and the intermediate section presents a zigzag stripe cross-bedding structure which composed by small-medium scale particles and medium-large scale particles. Each stripe has two critical angles: one is the angle could maintain particles with stability condition, which approximately varies between 24 and 26 degree; and the other is the angle which makes particles stop gliding down on the slpoe, with degree in the approximate range from 34 to 36.
