Digital Image Correlation Method for Rubber Elastic Modulus Measurement
|
Abstract:
Application of Digital image correlation method (DIC) to measurement of flexible rubber elastic modulus under small strain was investigated. Surface images of artificial speckle pattern of a cylinder rubber specimen were captured by using a CCD camera in uniaxial compression tests, which was applied to the carrier of deformation information in measuring technique of digital image correlation. The influence resulted from lens distortion to measuring displacement was analyzed. The rubber stress-strain curve within small strain range was obtained based on digital image correlation method. On this basis the rubber elastic modulus was calculated. Such obtained elastic modulus was compared with the result obtained from adopting a dial indicator. Results show that they correspond well with each other. Experimental results indicate that digital image correlation method can be regarded as a new method to measure rubber product elastic modulus in engineering project.
