Discussion on Some Key Scientific Research Issues for Effect Evaluation of Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndromes

Currently, syndromes have been used as one of the key indexes of clinical evaluation in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). The syndromes scores via quantification of symptoms and signs have been widely used to evaluate intervention effect of Chinese medicine in recent years. However, several key scientific issues such as the unclear location of outcome level measured by syndromes, confusion existed in the properties of syndromes diagnosis and its evaluation, difficulty in measuring dynamic changes of syndromes are unresolved and controversial. Continuous research to gradually solve these key issues is the basic premise to dig scientific content of syndrome evaluation and highlight characteristics and advantages of TCM.
