IR Thermograph Characteristics of Photoelastical Material in Loading

The photoelastical materials were tested by means of thermal IR imager and photoelastical inspection under difference loading rates. It was found that the isothermal region in thermograph was highly similar to the stress diagram expressed in photoelastical images. Obvious linear relationship between isothermal region and isochromatics was observed. It was also found that the strain rate was one of the main factors which influence the IR radiation of loading objects.
