An Experimental Investigation on the Pressure Drop of Oil-Water Two Phase Flow in Horizontal Pipe
|
Abstract:
A horizontal multiphase flow experiment pipe loop of stainless steel pipe (26.1mm inner diameter, 30m long) is constructed. Experiment for oil-water two phase flow pattern and pressure drop is conducted on it. Experiment data for pressure drop and effective viscosity of different oil-water two phase flow patterns are analyzed. It is pointed out that the traditional way of effective viscosity can only be used to predict the pressure drop of oil-water dispersed flow pattern, for other flow patterns, such as stratified flow pattern and semi-dispersed semi-stratified flow patterns, new model should be developed to calculate the flow pressure drop correctly. The experiment results is useful for directing the oil-water two phase pipe flow operation in oil field.
