Processing For Carrier Fringe Patterns and Its Application

Abstract:
A new method to process the carrier fringe patterns is presented. The carrier fringe before and after deformation were thinned to locate their centers and encoded into numerical data. The value of fringe order on every pixel can be acquired by numerical surface fitting to these data. Then the two fringe order fields were subtracted each other to get the fringe order distribution caused uniquely by deformation. This method is used to process the shearing interferometry fringe patterns and measure the temperature and its gradient field in atmosphere around the horizontal heat tube. The heat transfer coefficients were also computed.
