Measurement of Dynamic J-Integral of Materials on a Bar-Impact Testing, Machine
|
Abstract:
An experimental technique for measuring dynamic fracture toughness under the action of stress wave is described in this paper. A 3-point bending specimen is loaded dynamically with a Bar-Impact Testing Machine. Since there exists relationship among load, displacement and impact velocity for long bar, the displacement and J-integral can be calculated from recorded load-time curve. The testing process becomes much simpler and the basis for analysis is much more reliable in comparison with the widely used pendulum impact method.
